Take a Hike in CLE!

Hey Clevelanders and Out-of-Towners!  You still have exactly one month from today (August, 16) to take a guided hike in Cleveland.  The Take a Hike tours are sponsored by Dollar Bank and cover different neighborhoods that make up Downtown Cleveland.  Along each hike you will meet one or two important people that helped shape Cleveland in the past and is still present today.  These hikes are great for everyone - the outdoor enthusiast, the urban lover, the foodie, the art enthusiast, the history buff, the Cleveland proud, and the tourist.  I have been on every single Take a Hike tour and have loved each one!

Each tour is about 1.5 hours long and is filled with interesting information.  The guide(s) are very knowledgeable and easy to talk to - a complete love of sharing Cleveland history.  The walk is at a comfortable pace and covers a good amount of ground - wear comfortable walking shoes.  The tour guide(s) also have great restaurant recommendations - don't eat right before and try one of the many delicious, local restaurants in Cleveland after the tour!  Make sure to take your camera to capture the amazing art and architecture along the tour.  Also, take the survey at the end of the tour and be entered to win one of many prizes!

There are five tours offered:
Sunday, 10:00AM - Canal Basin Park in the Flats
Tuesday, 6:00PM - Playhouse Square
Wednesday, 6:00PM - Gateway District
Thursday, 6:00PM - Civic Center
Saturday, 10:00AM - Warehouse District

I recently attended the Civic Center Tour with my mom and sister.  We met the guides and other participants at the Old Stone Church in Public Square.  We learned about the history of the Old Stone Church, the Free Stamp, Veterans Memorial Plaza.  We also learned about the new green spaces and I am amazed at how much I just want to picnic and play there!  I enjoyed taking in the architecture of the beautiful buildings in the area.  We even met architect Daniel Burnham and Cleveland Browns Coach Paul Brown.  Daniel Burnham spoke to us about the different buildings in Cleveland he designed and Coach Paul Brown excitedly told us about how he turned the Browns into a winning team!

 Paul Brown
 Beautiful architecture

I can't wait to attend the other four to see who I will meet and what I will learn this year!

I'm Baaackk partly because of #HireMeVue!

I am back and happy to be posting again!  My posts became less and less frequent when I was working in the most stressful environment ever and soon after I began a new job, coaching cheer, and teaching nightly workouts - I never had a moment to myself.  I am back for two reasons: 1. People keep asking me to posts my fitness/nutrition tips and updates on Cleveland/free events. 2. The Vue in Beachwood has a search for an ambassador to live in their luxury apartments rent free for six months that will post about their experience and the wonderful place the entire time!  And I want it!  I love posting about the coolest experiences and most wonderful places in Cleveland and based upon the pictures and descriptions of The Vue, I would not have a single issue with that :)

This is the first photo/detail that caught my attention! This pool is calling my name!*

I will gladly cue you in on why The Vue is so wonderful without ever stepping foot into these luxury apartments.  Not only is there an outdoor pool, but it is resort-style surrounded by lovely chaises and areas to hang out and relax with friends and family.  There is a relaxation courtyard that would be the best place to go after a long day at work.  The lounge has a fireplace, which is perfect for our Cleveland winters!  The Vue also has a two-story fitness room - a very important room to have!  I would definitely enjoy going for a stroll along the sculptural pathways and spending time in the secluded gardens.  I also cannot help but being super happy about the heated, underground parking (what a plus)!

The apartments also sound just as amazing! Each apartment kitchen comes with a granite counter in the kitchen - I have always wanted one for cooking!  The kitchen also comes with beautiful appliances - the premium and penthouse have stainless steel!!  The bathrooms also come with granite counter tops and ceramic flooring.  The bedrooms are carpeted.  It seems that each apartment type - signature, premium, and penthouse - are done in neutral with beautiful, complimenting colors.  The floor plans are impressive and the square footing seems generous.  I love the openness of the layouts, especially in the kitchen area.

Pet Policy (this is important):  $250 up front Pet Fee + $25/mo pet rent. Pet Restrictions: 35 pound weight restriction. You can read about which breeds are not permitted on the site.

You can check out the other amenities here.
You can check out the floor plans here.
You can check out more photos of The Vue here.
*Hopefully, if I win, you will see a lot more of my own photos of The Vue!
You can apply to become a resident here.

I know I would love living here and having many gatherings with friends and family!  If I don't get the chance to become the ambassador of The Vue, I would definitely love to look into living there, anyway.  BUT....PLEASE #HIREMEVUE!

The Vue is located 23220 Chagrin Blvd. Beachwood, OH 44122.

Two Free Events in CLE!

I love free and I love Cle!!  I am so excited to announce that there are two free events in Cleveland (one this week and one next week) :)  Perfect way to end two of your workdays or free days if you're a teacher or just blessed ;)  So, if you're in need of something fun after work on Tuesday,  next Thursday, or both, I have your happy hour planned for both!

Tuesday: If you have been around Downtown Cleveland lately, you should've seen or heard of the new Westin Hotel (777 Superior Avenue NE) and Urban Farmer Cleveland's Steakhouse (1325 East 6th Street).  Well, tomorrow (7/29) the hotel and restaurant are holding a Cleveland TweetUp!  After work, 5-7PM, you can come up to the 6th floor and enjoy free food, drink specials, giveaways, social networking, and meeting Cleveland locals.  Before, during and after the event tweet using #CLEtweetup and a special offer will be tweeted by Westin on Twitter - retweet it for a chance to be entered for a fantastic prize!  You can get more info and RSVP on Facebook.

The hotel is partnered with Aloft and is suppose to be amazing.  A night stay is a little more expensive, but has the largest hotel fitness center in Cleveland and great views of downtown and Lake Erie!  Urban Farmer is one of Cleveland's newest restaurants.  Urban Farmer is a steakhouse that makes relationships with local farms for their ingredients.  I love farm to table restaurants and keeping my food fresh and local!  Both places sound amazing and I cannot wait to check them out!

Thursday, 8/7: YELP is hosting the Budweiser Made in Cleveland Party with Girl Talk at Jacobs Pavilion (2014 sycamore) at 8:00PM. The event is free, but it is 21+ and you must RSVP through YELP and then click on tickets to go to the Budweiser site to RSVP.   Celebrate Cleveland with live music, local food, some buds and more!  You can win a free trip to the Budweiser Made in America music festival!

Hope you come to one or both of these events!  I am definitely excited and cannot wait to enjoy more of Cleveland!

Also, if you're able to, stop by the Tremont Farmers' Market on Tuesday (begins at 4:00PM) before heading down to the TweetUp.  Always a good time with live music, local food to buy and sample, and other local vendors!

Have a great night!

First Day Of Complete Freedom!

It feels so good to have finally quit the job I was not happy with.  No more talking about resigning or dreaming about extending my summer vacation another month (yes, teacher training would've began August 4th for me).  I am completely free!  I also began my career soul-searching today by reading chapters 1 and 2 of The Pathfinder: How to Choose or Change Your Career for a Lifetime of Satisfaction and Success by Nichola Lore.  I am loving the book so far and am excited to see what passion/interest I will be turning into my career.

Now, I am not completely unemployed or broke...I teach Booty Barre multiple times a week and two preschool dance classes.  I enjoy teach fitness classes, so I am happy to say I will either be teaching more Booty Barre classes come this fall or adding new certifications to my name!  I am so pumped to broaden my fitness class offerings!  I will be able to keep stress away while attending classes (for idk what yet) by making money doing something I absolutely love!

Anyway, the best part of Thursday night is planning my weekend in Cleveland!  I love summers in Cleveland because there is always something fascinating to do.  I am not sure what I am doing yet, but I have a pretty good list of things I am interested in and think you may be interested in as well.
