Awesome Sports Weekend!

Hi everyone!  I hope you all had a fantastic weekend :) I sure did!  I spent the entire weekend with my dad at three different sporting events!  I also caught up on a lot of sleep - which was much needed!  Is it sad that 9:00AM is sleeping in?  Anyway, I am excited to share my weekend with you all!

On Friday, I was lucky enough to take a half day to head out to Latrobe with my dad - but, not before sampling everyone's dishes from our compliance potluck!

We had to get to Latrobe by 5:30-6 to catch a majority of the Steelers training camp and scrimmage.  The set-up at St. Vincent College was amazing!  There were vendors and people everywhere!  We hung around the bleachers when we first got there to check out our vets and scope out the rookies.

I can say that I am looking forward to watching the Steelers this season!  After about a half hour, we wandered over to the back football field - there were three fields set up - so we could check out the defense and to set-up a prime autograph spot.  We met some awesome people - Steelers fans are just so happy and friendly :) very refreshing when compared to all the Browns fans I am surrounded by ;)  I was able to acquire six autographs on my Terrible Towel - basically rookies, but they will be big one day!

I also ran into my Aunt Joyce and Uncle Dale!  We left training camp around 9:00PM and luckily spent the night in a hotel outside of Pittsburgh.

Saturday, after sleeping in, my dad and I headed out to Canton for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement.  We originally bought tickets in anticipation of Jerome Bettis being inducted - get it together HOF selection committee!  I know this coming induction class will be his :)  I also wore my Bus jersey in a silent protest.  On our way we stopped at Panera and I ordered the Power Chicken Hummus Bowl from the Hidden Menu - ask about it, I insist :)
All-natural, Antibiotic-free chicken, with cilantro jalapeño hummus, baby spinach, cucumbers, diced tomatoes, red onions, fresh-squeezed lemon and chopped cilantro.

I couldn't believe the set-up at the Hall of Fame - a merchandise tent, food, autograph tents, corn hole and football tossing games.  There were so many different football fans in one place - it was an awesome atmosphere!  The Enshrinement ceremony was amazing and it was awesome to hear so many great, inspirational speeches.
This was the 50th anniversary of the Enshrinement ceremony and also the biggest returning class - of HOF alumni - it was such a wonderful feeling to be in the presence of some of the most amazing football players to ever play the game.

After the ceremony, we headed back to our hotel in PA and Siri set us back an hour...not cool, but I did get to sleep for the last two hours while my dad drove :)

Sunday morning - another morning of sleeping in - we headed downtown for the Pirates-Rangers game!  The Pirates have been so hot lately and we finally got to a game!  We parked for free at the Rivers Casino - yes, FREE parking, excuse me Horseshoe Casino.... And we walked along the river to PNC Park - the most picturesque ballpark ever.  The first thing we did was spin the prize wheel and we both won two tickets each!  I love winning ;)  We then stopped at one of the concession courts and ordered from the Just4U concession stand - a gluten-free stand.
I cannot believe ballparks are getting hip to gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options - gives me butterflies!  Anyway, we both ordered gluten-free hot dogs - one each - and my dad ordered gluten-free chips and salsa and I ordered a side of mixed fruit.

Every thing was delicious!  We hurried to our seats so we wouldn't miss the line-ups or National Anthem.  Our seats were in the upper section and were still awesome - there really are no bad seats in the whole ballpark.  We could see everything - the beautiful skyline, the Pierogi race, the game :)

The park was full, which was really nice to see at PNC Park.  The atmosphere was fantastic and we witnessed a Pirates win!  The pitcher pitched the entire game and recored nine strike-outs!  We even got to see the Pirate Parrot raise the Jolly Roger :)

This has been one of the best weekend getaways in a long time.  It was nice to be able to spend some time with my dad - real-life is very hectic sometimes and it seems that I only see my family in passing most of the time.  I cannot wait to get back to Pittsburgh to use our prize tickets :)  and to hopefully see another Pirates win!

I hope everyone else enjoyed their weekend and you are all taking advantage of the last few weeks of summer :)  Have a great night and get ready for another fabulous baked oatmeal recipe!

Have a great night!
